This song was a favourite of Shane MacGowan's - he grew up listening to his mum singing it. The Pogues recorded it on their RED ROSES FOR ME album.
Cathy and I first performed it at the RTE Folk Awards Feb '24 for Shane's obituary section, introduced by his sister Siobhan. We released this studio version Nov' 24 and it was chosen by Shay Byrne presenter on RTE Radio 1 as his TRACK OF THEY YEAR 2024.
